When Healing Becomes Visible

One of the things I have always loved most about healing sessions is seeing how much lighter people feel afterwards. Often they leave feeling calmer, more relaxed, and more balanced, but until recently, those changes were largely felt rather than seen.

Aura Photography provides a wonderful opportunity to visually capture changes within our energy field.

While attending the Melbourne Mind Body Spirit Festival, I had the opportunity to experiment with my beautiful new drum. One of our lovely readers, agreed to have her aura photographed before and after just a couple of minutes of drumming.

The results were incredible. After only a short 2 minute drumming session, green healing energy began appearing within her aura. It was amazing to witness such a visible shift in such a short period of time.

This experience reinforced something I have long believed, sound, vibration, and frequency have a profound effect on our energy. Music is far more than something we simply hear; it is something we feel throughout our entire being.

Seeing these changes reflected through Aura Photography was both exciting and inspiring. It provided a beautiful visual reminder that healing and energetic shifts can occur quickly, and that the frequencies we surround ourselves with can have a powerful impact on our wellbeing.

Healing is not only something we feel. Sometimes, it can be seen.

When the Body Listens: The Healing Language of Sound

You don’t need to understand frequencies, physics, or ancient traditions to benefit from sound healing.
You only need a body, and a nervous system that’s been doing its best to cope.

At its core, sound healing works because your body responds to vibration.

Everything in and around you is made of energy. When sound is introduced, whether through tuning forks, singing bowls, drums, or voice, gentle vibrations move through the body. These vibrations help guide the body out of stress and back toward balance.

Your Body Is Always Listening

Even when your mind is busy, your body is constantly receiving information. Sound bypasses overthinking and speaks directly to the nervous system.

This is why many people feel:

  • deeply relaxed

  • emotional release without needing to talk

  • a sense of “coming back into their body”

  • calm that lasts beyond the session

Sound gives your system permission to slow down.

It Helps Your Nervous System Shift Gears

Most of us live in a state of “go, go, go” even when we’re resting. Sound healing helps move the nervous system from fight-or-flight into rest-and-repair.

When this happens:

  • breathing naturally deepens

  • muscles soften

  • the body feels safer

  • the mind quietens

Nothing is forced. Your body does the work in its own time.

You Don’t Have to Do Anything “Right”

There’s no right way to experience sound healing.

Some people feel sensations.
Some see colours or images.
Some fall asleep.
Some simply feel peaceful.

All of these are valid.
Sound meets you exactly where you are.

Why Emotions Sometimes Surface

Sound can gently loosen stored tension and emotion. This doesn’t mean anything is “wrong” it means your body feels safe enough to let go.

This release might feel like:

  • a deep sigh

  • tears

  • warmth

  • a sense of lightness afterward

Everything happens naturally and gently.

Before Your Session

To support your experience, you’ll be asked to complete a client intake form beforehand. This helps ensure your session is tailored to you and held safely, respectfully, and with care.

In Simple Terms

Sound healing works because:

  • your body responds to vibration

  • sound calms the nervous system

  • relaxation allows natural balance to return

  • you don’t need to analyse or “fix” anything

Sometimes, being supported is enough.

How Sound Healing Works (In Simple Terms)

Sound healing often sounds mysterious, but at its core, it’s actually very simple.

Everything in and around us responds to vibration. Sound is vibration, and the body is very good at responding to it, whether we consciously think about it or not.

You’ve probably experienced this already in everyday life.
Music can calm you, energise you, or move you emotionally without you needing to analyse why. A deep sigh can bring instant relief. Gentle sounds can help you relax enough to fall asleep.

Sound healing works in a similar way, but with intention.

During a sound healing session, specific tones and frequencies are used to support the body in slowing down and settling. As the sounds move through the body, they encourage relaxation by giving the nervous system something steady and soothing to respond to.

You don’t need to concentrate.
You don’t need to visualise anything.
You don’t need to “do it right”.

The body naturally begins to respond by:

  • slowing the breath

  • releasing tension

  • quietening mental noise

  • shifting out of constant alertness

Many people describe it as feeling gently held by the sound, or like their whole system is being given permission to rest.

What’s important to know is that sound healing isn’t about forcing change. It doesn’t push or override the body. It works by creating the right conditions for the body to return to balance in its own time.

Some people feel deeply relaxed straight away.
Others notice the effects more subtly over the following days.
And for some, it’s simply the first time they’ve felt truly still in a long while.

There’s no right experience.

Sound healing doesn’t require belief or understanding, just a willingness to pause and allow your body to receive gentle support.

In a world that constantly asks us to do more, think more, and cope more, sound offers something very different.

It invites you to slow down.
To soften.
And to rest, not because something is wrong, but because your body deserves it.

You Don’t Have to Believe in Healing for It to Help

One of the things people often say to me is,
“I’m not really spiritual, but I’m curious.”

And I want you to know, that’s completely okay.

You don’t need to believe in energy, chakras, or healing modalities for your body to respond to gentle support.

You don’t need to understand how Reiki, sound healing, or frequency work operates on a technical level either.

You just need a body.

Your nervous system responds to safety.
Your body responds to rest.
Your system responds to calm, gentle input.

That’s not belief, that’s physiology.

Many people come into sessions simply wanting to relax, unwind, or see what it feels like. Some are sceptical. Some are practical. Some are just exhausted.

And that’s often when they’re surprised.

Not because something dramatic happens, but because they notice:

  • their body softening

  • their breathing slowing

  • their mind becoming quieter

  • a sense of calm they haven’t felt in a while

You don’t have to “do it right”.
You don’t have to feel anything specific.
You don’t have to label your experience.

Your body already knows how to respond when it’s given the chance.

Healing work doesn’t require belief, it invites experience.

And sometimes, simply allowing yourself to rest in a supportive space is enough to begin shifting how you feel.

Curiosity is more than enough.

What Actually Happens in a Reiki & Sound Healing Session

For many people, the hardest part of booking a healing session isn’t the decision — it’s the unknown.

They wonder:

  • What will it feel like?

  • Will I have to talk?

  • Will I feel awkward?

  • What if I don’t “feel” anything?

  • What if I get emotional?

These are very normal questions, and I hear them often.

So I want to gently walk you through what a Reiki and sound healing session with me is actually like.

When you arrive, there’s no rush. No pressure. No expectation that you need to be or feel a certain way. You don’t need to explain everything or know what you want to work on. You’re simply welcomed into a calm, supportive space.

You’ll be invited to lie down comfortably and rest. This is your time to pause. To stop doing. To stop holding everything together.

Many people notice the first shift here — their body starts to soften.

As the session begins, Reiki and sound are used gently to support relaxation and balance. You don’t need to concentrate or “do” anything. Your body knows how to receive.

People experience sessions differently, but some common feelings include:

  • a deep sense of calm

  • warmth or gentle sensations in the body

  • feeling lighter or clearer

  • emotional release, or simply feeling very relaxed

  • a quiet mind for the first time in a long while

Some people drift into a dream-like state. Others remain awake but deeply relaxed. There is no right or wrong experience.

Sound healing adds another layer of support. The vibrations help guide the body out of tension and into a more settled, grounded state. It’s often described as feeling gently held by sound.

You don’t have to talk during the session unless you want to. And you don’t need to understand how it works for it to be beneficial. The body responds naturally when it feels safe.

Afterwards, people often describe feeling:

  • calmer

  • more present

  • emotionally lighter

  • more connected to themselves

Sometimes the effects are immediate. Other times they unfold gently over the following days.

A Reiki and sound healing session isn’t about fixing you — because you’re not broken. It’s about giving your body and energy the space and support they need to return to balance.

If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or disconnected from yourself, this is a very gentle way to begin coming back home to you.

I offer sessions at 2 Osborne Court, Loganholme, on Thursdays, and I would love to support you when you feel ready.

Why You’re Tired Even After Sleeping

Do you ever wake up feeling like you haven’t rested at all?

You slept through the night.
You went to bed at a reasonable time.
And yet… you wake up already feeling flat, foggy, or heavy.

By the middle of the day, you feel like you could lie down again.
Not because you’re lazy.
Not because you didn’t sleep.
But because something deeper is going on.

This is something I see all the time with the beautiful people who come to see me for healing.

They are exhausted — but not from lack of sleep.

They are exhausted from holding too much.

Holding stress.
Holding emotions.
Holding responsibility.
Holding themselves together for everyone else.

Your body might be lying in bed at night, but your nervous system is still switched on. Still alert. Still processing. Still “on duty”.

And when this happens, the body never truly drops into the deep rest it needs to repair, reset, and restore.

So you wake up tired. Again.

Over time this can feel like:

  • constant fatigue

  • brain fog

  • irritability

  • feeling overwhelmed easily

  • feeling emotionally flat or teary for no clear reason

  • tension in the neck, shoulders, jaw, or chest

  • the sense that you’re just not quite yourself anymore

This isn’t something more sleep fixes.

This is something the body needs help to unwind from.

This is where gentle healing modalities like Reiki, sound healing, and frequency work can make such a difference. They allow the body to finally do what it hasn’t been able to do on its own — switch off, soften, and feel safe enough to rest properly.

Not just physically.

But emotionally and energetically too.

When the body feels safe, it rests.

And when it rests, everything starts to shift.

If this sounds like you, know that you’re not alone — and more importantly, it’s something that can be supported in a very gentle, nurturing way.

I see it every often.

And I would love to help you feel like yourself again. 🌿
